OldTicker Posted April 6, 2011 - 6:19pmYou will have to post a picture or two of it for a positive ID, sounds like it could be a Bulova 23 model and the value would be determined by condition, both mechanical and appearence. L9 = 1959 model year, and there should be a few ad's under the information tab. eBay auctions is a good source to compare value, just find one like yours and see what it sells for. It simply means that the ad I found during a quick search was from 1954. Watches were often manufactured for more that one year. Your watch is "dated" by the symbol on the movement, e.g., L9 = 1959, and the corresponding symbol on the back of the case. They don't always match, but are usually within a year or two. The database is a work in progress. However, given what we do know, I think you can assume that you have a valid 1950s "Bulova 23". Both the case and the dial are shown in the ads. Here is one like it that sold on eBay recently, the value will depend on condition.
